Owie!

Well, I broke my wrist!
On Friday night, we had a fun night with a group of coworkers, dancing, having some wine, and doing Zumba! I have a chronically "bad" knee, which dislocates after too much stress on it.
After doing Zumba for almost an hour, my knee went out and I fell. (this happens to me every month or two) But this time, I nearly passed out after I got off the floor to stretch my knee out. I soon realized that it was my right wrist that hurt!
I just assumed it was a sprain, and didn't want to be a baby, so I hung out for another hour or so, then headed home. Greg wrapped my wrist and I iced it.
The next morning, Greg had gone to work, and I couldn't do anything without swearing or crying. So, I called my wonderful friend, Katy to come watch the kids while I went to Acute Care.
After some xrays, I was diagnosed with a non-displaced scaphoid fracture and send home with a wrist brace. I was told to go to the orthopedic walk-in clinic on Monday.
So, I went to work on Monday, and after I took care of all my patients, I headed across the street of the hospital to orthopedics. The PA put a gigantic splint on my arm (as seen in the photo, which Kyla took) to make sure I have no use of my thumb, and told me to come back in one week to see the doctor and put a cast on.
I got quite depressed about the cast thing. It's hard to take care of the kids, and myself, really. I'll need to go in to the orthopedic clinic every two weeks to be sure my bone is healing. It can be a really slow-healing bone, apparently. Another thing I was upset about was the bills that will come from an injury (we're still paying Sanford for the birth of Nolan!)
I continue to work, although my arm gets sore after using it all day. And life is a bit difficult without any use of my right thumb! Frustrating, but not much I can do about it!
Day by day. This too shall pass.

Nolan Delos ~ 6 months old

Nolan is 6(+) months old already! Finally had his pictures taken today. He wasn't very smiley, but they turned out good.

Nolan sits up well on his own.
He rolls well.
He will scoot himself back while doing "mini-pushups"
He loves his exersaucer and piano toy
He weighed only 14lb 9oz at his 6 month appointment. He's my little peanut.
He loves to eat and has had a variety of homemade babyfood: avacado, banana, apple, peas, beans, carrots, sweet potato, squash. I don't know that he even has a favorite, he'll eat anything!

I definately treat him like the youngest child (which he likely always will be). I don't ever want him to get big... can't imagine him being "terribly two" like his sisiter! :)

Love you, Tina

Tina was a good friend of mine. I don't have a ton of close friends, it's hard when you have a family of your own. Tina, though, didn't mind hanging out with me, even if I had a husband, 2 kids, and my sister tagging along...

Me and Tina met in the early years of grade-school. Her dad was the pastor of our church. I have a few memories of going over to Tina's house, her mom always smiling and baking something in the kitchen, her dad studying in his office or doing yardwork, her brother and sister bugging us while we're trying to play.
Tina and I pretty much lost contact in high school, her family moved (not real far, but to a different school.)
About 1 1/2 years ago, I got word that Tina was also an RN, and she was interested in coming to work at Sanford, in the very same clinic I work in. She came and job shadowed me for a day, and I put in a good word for her :)
Since then we've been co-workers and re-aquainted friends. We've had many supper dates to Hu Hot, many parties and potlucks, discussions and fun at work, and she loved to baby sit my kids.

Tina went to heaven yesterday, while snow skiing in the Black Hills. She was an amazing, kind, compassionate Christian with tons of friends and loved-ones.
Tina took a trip to Israel last month, to the "Holy Land". This is an opportunity I'll probably never have, to feel so close to God, and the foot steps of Jesus. For Tina, though, this wasn't close enough. God needed her in heaven.

It doesn't seem real, that Tina won't be at work tomorrow, that the rest of us have to function without her presence. She won't be at her desk, she won't walk with me to get coffee, she won't be sitting with us at lunch. She won't be able to babysit my kids like she was asking to do just last week... I, like so many others, will miss her so, so much.

There is no doubt, however, that I will see her again. I will see her some day in heaven, and indeed, it will be awesome!

2011

A quick year-end review:
Its been quite a YEAR! It started out with the announcemment that I was pregnant and then all the sudden my parents were separated... what a rough road.
Other events included an awesome caribean cruise with Greg. Getting my braces on. Kyla entering her terrible twos. Nolan's birth! And Greg changing jobs.
So many joys but yet that one big dissapointment (my parents)!
I believe that my faith and self-confidence are stronger than ever, but so is my stress and anxiety. Crazy, but true.
I pray for God's continued close guidance as 2012 wont be easy either. But life goes on and I'm thankful for that.
Blessings in the next year to you (and me).

Romans 12:9

I think God spoke to me in the shower last night. "Hate what is evil, cling to what is good."
Without even knowing it, I think this has been my motto for the last year.

It's still overwhelming at times- my parent's separation/divorce. Emotions re-surface and stress re-builds.
I've learned a LOT, I can tell you that! Something I really struggle with is my loss of respect for others. There's so many people who I thought I knew, but when put on the spot, let me down immensely! Some of my prime Christian role models have proven themselves not so wonderful. I was raised a Christian person- to do what is right, support good deeds, stay positive. Sometimes I feel that all my "teachers" have deserted their curriculum and left me to defend for myself. There's defiantely lack of "practicing what you preach."

"Hate what is evil"- that's pretty simple- basic Christian principle. Hate sin. Avoid what is wrong. It does not say "Hate WHO is doing evil," but rather hate the sin itself, stay away from it.
"Cling to what is good"- also pretty simple. Do what is right. Model what is good. Support good deeds.

It's all a matter of right vs. wrong. It seems so plain and simple to me... why must it be so difficult?

Life is good.

It's been awhile since I've blogged, and really I have no excuse. Just been enjoying my time at home with my family!
Most recently, I've been painting. The living area is nearly done, and I've started working on the kitchen. I've never liked the white walls in the living room and the yellow kitchen, so after a year of living here, I'm finally getting to it! The living room is a golden sand color, and the kitchen will be a deep green.
Nolan is 2 months old! He's still a good, cute little thing! He usually sleeps through the night, and boy, has he started smiling! He's so precious. Kyla is really starting to enjoy him now that she gets some reaction from him.
Kyla is something else. Between and the ridiculous things she says, and trying to control her energy, she's busy, busy. And funny.

Family Update

We all continue to do well. I'd say that I was completely recovered within a week of Nolan being born. We've been on good walks and I've been able to be active around the house. Some nights Nolan gets up 3 times, other nights, only 1 time. So I'm more tired some days than others.
During the day, Nolan just hangs out in the swing or on the boppy pillow. And allows me to do what I want. I'm pretty sure he has a little cold (probably from his sister coughing in his face) so he's been a little more fussy today.
Kyla has had a pretty good week. Last week she was absolutely rotten- probably typical two-year-old stuff. She throws some fits at random and once in a while she'll say "I'm NOT a big girl- I'm a baby." Life must be rough as a two year old big sister. She is doing really well with potty training though and even has been pooping in the potty every day.
Greg started his orientation for his new job at Sanford this week. It's just been education classes, so not too exciting yet.
